Pre Workforce Development
Core Construction Skill Maintanence is a high intensity instruction program that provides academic remediation and safety certifications for individuals who are seeking employment as a craftsman’s helper or Journeyman’s Apprentice. Academic outcomes include GED/ABE preparation and completion, along with certification as a Maryland Weatherization Installer. Workplace competencies and certifications include basic scientific principles, hand/power tools, air sealing, duct sealing, blueprint reading, trade materials handling, insulation techniques, and base-load measures.
Our Pre-work Force program provides an introduction to power/energy fundamentals and technologies to increase awareness and interest by providing hands on projects coupled with math, science, and critical thinking concepts. 
Melvin Henry Center is fortunate to partner with industry professionals and content experts who share the commitment to icreasing the content knowledge and instructional skills of the teacher workforce. This shared commitment has resulted in the Melvin Henry center's implementation of occupational programs that support the "Common Core" Standards of the STEM Education Coalition for elementary and secondary public schools
